Mr. Wallace's Grade 5 Class
Hello and welcome to Mr. Wallace's Grade 5 website!
Although we can't be together in the classroom right now, we can still have fun learning and exploring! This website is divided into 3 categories:
Updates: Here you can find relevant information or resources from the FES community.
Mini-Lessons: Lessons, activities and resources will be posted regularly for weekly learning.
Websites / Online Resources: This is a collection of websites and other online resources that will connect to our lessons and also provide fun learning opportunities any time!
I will regularly update this site with activities, resources, lessons and ideas and I welcome your feedback!
Please remember that the expectation is NOT that you recreate a classroom in your home. Families of students in Grade 5 are being asked to aim for an hour (combined) of literacy and numeracy activities with 30 minutes of reading and 30 minutes of physical activity (when possible).
I understand that this will look different in every home and that you will all do the best you can given the circumstances. Some days you may do less and some days more, depending on your own at-home work schedule and the needs of the other members of your family. That being said, this time does not have to be all at once. You can break up tasks into smaller chunks of time that fit within your own schedule.
Most importantly, I want you to remember to remove as much pressure as possible. Our own mental and emotional well being as well as that of our children is of the utmost importance right now. I know many of you have a number of added stresses at the moment. Don't worry if you need a moment or a day to take a break (the kids can handle it!). Do a little extra physical activity as a family, get outside and get some fresh air, and try to maintain relationships with friends and family as much as possible.
You can send me a message via email or Classdojo and I will respond to you as soon as possible. If I need more time to prepare a more detailed response via email or phone I will let you know. I am available for calls and emails from 9:00am - 12:00pm Monday - Thursday.
I hope you find this site useful and I look forward to working with you and your children to continue their learning at home.
Stay safe and have fun!
Sincerely,
Mr. Wallace
